2nd ODI, Carlton Series, West Indies v Zimbabwe, Statistical Highlights

- It was the 1669th ODI in cricket history.
- It was West Indies' 409th and Zimbabwe's 174th match.
- It was the 316th World Series Cup match - 106th for West Indies and fifth for Zimbabwe.
- It was the 12th match between these two sides. The record now reads: West Indies 9, Zimbabwe 3.
- It was the 430th day-night match in ODI history - 87th for West Indies and 37th for Zimbabwe.
- Umpires PD Parker and SJA Taufel were officiating in their 30th and 14th match respectively.
- Alistair Campbell was playing his 150th match. He became the second Zimbabwean after Andy Flower (162) and 50th player overall to do so.
- Andy Flower was playing his 162nd consecutive match which equals the tally of South African Hansie Cronje. Flower is now inching towards India's Sachin Tendulkar's world record of 185 consecutive matches. Flower has already achieved an unique distinction. He has not missed a single match for Zimbabwe since making his debut against Sri Lanka at New Plymouth in 1992 World Cup and he is the only player to play 100 or more consecutive matches since debut.
- The seventh wicket partnership of 40 runs between Gavin Rennie and Heath Streak was Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against West Indies. This obliterates the previous record stand of 25 between Ian Butchart and Kevin Curran at Birmingham on 20-06-1983.
- Ridley Jacobs became sixth West Indian batsman to be dismissed 'hit wicket' in ODIs. Others to get out in this fashion are Foud Bacchus (twice), Sherwin Campbell (twice) and Roy Fredericks, Keith Arthurton and Gus Logie (once each).
- Jacobs also became third batsman to get out 'hit wicket' against Zimbabwe after South Africa's Dave Richardson and Sri Lanka's Romesh Kaluwitharana.
- Ricardo Powell's innings (83*) is the second highest by any batsman at number six in a World Series Cup match. The record is on the name of another West Indian Clive Lloyd who made unbeaten 89 against Sri Lanka at Brisbane on 12-01-1985.
- Andy Flower by taking four catches behind the stumps bettered the previous record by a Zimbabwean wicketkeeper in a match against West Indies. Interestingly in all the previous 11 encounters between these two countries not even once had a Zimbabwean keeper taken more than one catch behind the stumps.
- The one wicket victory was the fourth narrowest (in terms of wickets) in WSC matches. West Indies had beaten Pakistan at Adelaide on 28-01-1984, Australia had beaten West Indies at Sydney on 01-01-1996 and Sri Lanka had beaten England at Adelaide on 23-01-1999 by same margin.
- It was the 21st instance of a team winning a match by one wicket in all ODIs. West Indies has featured in most matches in which one wicket win was achieved, winning six and losing five. Both England and Pakistan have registered four one wicket wins. Australia, New Zealand and Zimbabwe have won two matches by one wicket margin while Sri Lanka completes the total with one such instance.
- Ricardo Powell was winning his second man of the match award in 36 appearances.
