Duleep Trophy tie, India-England U-19 one day venues shifted

The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI), JY Lele said in Mumbai on Saturday that the Duleep Trophy match between West Zone and East Zone which was scheduled to be held at Rajkot from February 1 to 4 has now been shifted to the Nehru Stadium in Pune due to the earthquake which rocked Gujarat on Friday.

Press Trust of India quotes the BCCI secretary as saying "I consulted the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) officials and the West Zone committee before shifting the venue to Pune."

Also, the three match One-day series between India Under-19 and England Under-19, which were originally scheduled to be played in Baroda, Ahmedabad and Rajkot, have also been shifted in view of the calamity. The revised schedule has two matches at Hyderabad (February 2 and 6) and one at Vijayawada (February 4).

Tendulkar to lead West Zone in Duleep Trophy

Indian star batsman Sachin Tendulkar is to lead the West Zone Team in the last Duleep Trophy match against East Zone to be played at Pune from February 1 to 4. The match was originally scheduled to be played at Rajkot but was subsequently shifted to Pune after the severe earthquake that rocked Gujarat.

This will be Tendulkar's first Duleep Trophy match this season after missing the previous three games. With the BCCI president AC Muthiah making it clear that star players will not be excused from playing domestic tournaments, Tendulkar opted to play in the match. Moreover, Tendulkar will gain some much needed match practice before the start of the home series against Australia.

The team: Sachin Tendulkar (captain), Nayan Mongia, Wasim Jaffer, Connor Williams, Jacob Martin, Vinod Kambli, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Abhijit Kale, Niraj Patel, Sairaj Bahutule, Iqbal Siddiqui, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan, Ramesh Powar and Prashant Joshi.
