Re-scheduling of Dambulla matches
BCCSL - 19 July 2001
We have reliable information to indicate that interested parties are planning to disrupt matches of the Coca-Cola Cup One Day International Tournament to be played at Dambulla.. The dispute appears to have arisen as a result of non-payment to contractors and suppliers who provided services in the construction of the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium. Currently, there is a Probe Committee investigating all transactions of the BCCSL, up to the time of appointment of the present Interim Committee, including payments due to the contactors and suppliers of the Dambulla Stadium.
In a view of these circumstances, the Interim Committee of the BCCSL has unanimously agreed with a directive of the Ministry of Tourism & Sports not too play these matches at Dambulla, and is re-scheduling sucj matches at the R.Premadasa Stadium as day-games.
A press notice will be issued indicating to the cricket-loving public who have brought tickets for matches at Dambulla, as to how their money will be refunded.
The managers of the visiting teams have been consulted, and will in turn inform their respective Boards.
