Gary Pratt and Justin Bishop were the stars at the County Ground, Chelmsford on Sunday as England defeated the West Indies by 13 runs in the second Under-19 one-day international. The three-match series is tied at 1-1 with the decider at the same ground on Monday.

Pratt, a left-handed opening batsman from Durham, scored an even 100 as England moved towards 241 scored in 49.5 overs. Left-arm Essex seamer Justin Bishop then took a staggering 7/41 from 8.3 overs to dismiss the West Indians for 228.

Pratt's century came from 113 deliveries and included thirteen fours. He shared a second-wicket stand of 138 with captain Ian Bell (59), but his departure triggered a collapse which saw the last nine England wickets fall for the addition of just 58 runs.

Kenroy Peters (3/30) and Omari Banks (3/36) were the most successful of the West Indian bowlers, with Jermaine Lawson and Ryan Austin taking one wicket apiece.

West Indian opener Devon Smith picked up from where he left off on Friday, following up his 75 in game one with an attacking 66 from 74 deliveries. However, when he departed, stumped by Stephen Pope from the bowling of Gordon Muchall, the score was 119 for 3 and much work was still to be done.

As Bishop cut a swathe through the West Indian middle-order, it was left to Carlton Baugh (47* from 46 balls) and Kenroy Peters (27) to make a belated fightback, putting together 67 for the ninth wicket. The departure of Peters and Jermaine Lawson to become Bishop's sixth and seventh victims of the day, ensured England's win.
