Hampshire choose 12 for CricInfo Championship 2 match at Cheltenham. Vic Isaacs - 31 July 2001
Hampshire welcome back three players from the team that defeated Australia at the Rose Bowl, for their forthcoming match against Gloucestershire at the lovely festival ground of Cheltenham College. Adi Aymes returns as wicket-keeper, Alex Morris is back after being rested and Chris Tremlett after his England Under 19s duties. There is still some doubt over Dimitri Mascarenhas, who pulled up with a hamstring injury during the Aussie match. He faces a fitness test in the morning; should he fail Laurence Prittipaul will fill the gap. Hampshire, who almost defeated Gloucestershire at the Rose Bowl earlier this season, will go into the vital match on the wave of their amazing victory over Australia. "We have to put that behind us", said Robin Smith, Hampshire's captain. "It was fantastic, and the celebrations went well into the night. However promotion is still our Number 1 priority, and we will be focussed well and truly come Wednesday morning." Hampshire twelve: Giles White, Derek kenway, Will Kendall, Robin Smith (capt), Neil Johnson, Lawrence Prittipaul or Dimitri Mascarenhas, Adi Aymes (w/k), Shaun Udal, Alex Morris, Chris Tremlett and Alan Mullally. © Hampshire Web Site
