†INDIA v NEW ZEALAND 1999-2000
Wisden CricInfo staff - July 3, 2001

At Gwalior, November 11. India won by 14 runs. Toss: India.

Another day, another Indian century. This time it was Ganguly's turn to bat through 50 overs, scoring 153 in 150 balls, with 18 fours and three sixes. But he had little support, his colleagues faltering on a damp pitch, until Robin Singh joined him at 142 for five in the 39th over. They added 119 in 69 balls, Singh smiting three sixes to reach 45 in 34 deliveries, with the final three overs yielding 55 runs. A fluent Astle led New Zealand's reply, but his dismissal, three short of a second hundred in the series, swiftly followed by Fleming's, was a severe setback. At least they reduced the margin of defeat from 174 runs at Hyderabad to 14.

Man of the Match: S. C. Ganguly.
