A promising medium-pacer, Harvinder Singh first played for India at the age of 20. Since then he has been on the fringes of the side, without ever cementing a regular place. He does the basics well - a smooth run-up culminates in a controlled jump, and his outswinger has a nice shape to it. But there isn't, as yet, enough in the arsenal to be a potent force at the highest level. In domestic cricket, though, he has shown constant improvement. Rahul Bhattacharya
