White cleared to bowl again CricInfo - 5 June 2001
The England camp will be buoyed by the news that Craig White has been given the go-ahead to resume bowling.
The Yorkshire allrounder has become a key figure in the England team's revival of the last 12-months, and his absence was sorely felt during the Old Trafford defeat at the hands of Pakistan. And although White has continued to play for Yorkshire as a batsman, it is as an allrounder that England will need him in the Ashes series. "I saw a specialist on Monday and have been told the injury is virtually clear so it is time to start bowling again," White told BBC Sport Online. "I will bowl at training this morning (Tuesday) at Headingley and then give it a go against Kent. I need to get some overs under my belt and will probably play all Yorkshire's game between now and the Edgbaston Test. It depends on what happens in the next couple of weeks, but I am confident I will be fit for the Aussies. "It will have to be carefully monitored, but I have got four weeks to gradually build-up my pace and as long as it is treated properly it should be okay." © CricInfo
