Dawn PCB and LCCA differ over payment
Mohammad Yaqub - 9 June 2001

Different claims have been made about the amount of Rs 4,18,000 paid by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) for organising the ongoing Inter-club tournament which started on June 6.

PCB official, Zakir Khan, said no decision had yet been taken whether the said amount was paid out of the share of LCCA profit of one million rupees earned from organising the Test and one-day international match against England at the Gaddafi Stadium or from an other head.

A well informed source said the amount had been paid from the LCCA share of profit. On the contrary, a spokesman of the LCCA (who did not wish to disclose his name) claimed that the said amount had been paid by the PCB from its own kitty and not from the share of profit. He said that as the PCB has been doling out similar sums to different association of the country for organising the Inter-club tournaments, therefore it should not be linked up with the profit amount.
