British Curator Andy Atkinson leaves for Karachi

The visiting British Curator, Andy Atkinson, has left for Karachi after a four-day visit here.
The Curator, who was on his second leg of visit to Pakistan, invited by PCB, held seminars for local experts drawn from all over the country on pitch preparation and their maintenance. He will undertake the same exercise in Karachi till June 18 before his return to London.
During his first visit, Mr Andy visited Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, besides Lahore. He inspected pitches, ground equipment and carried out the sampling of soil, which he found to be fit in all respects. He briefed the local experts regarding sampling and moisture. In the recent visit main emphasis was laid on practical demonstration on preparation and maintenance of pitches. In addition to practical demonstration be emphasised on the use of ground equipment, and on importance of aeration, growth of grass, roots filtration of nutrients, air, light and water.
