Gerald Dros has again been appointed as the Titan's captain for the forthcoming 2001/2002 cricket season, it was announced on Friday. In his first full season as aptain last year, Dros made great strides with a young team and managed to pull off numerous encouraging results. He was able to average above 40 in all forms of the game with the bat. Coach Dave Nosworthy said: "It was a brilliant performance from a captain who has led from the front and instilled a winning attitude amongst his troops. "The re-appointment of 'Drossie' is in line with our policy of continuity and there is no doubt in my mind that he will again fulfill an important role within the team's objectives and goals". There was more good news for Northerns with the announcement that Nashua will continued the major team sponsor for a further period of three years. Northern's president, Brandon Foot, is delighted with Nashua's commitment and pointed out that it was especially pleasing given the fact that provincial sponsors have not been easy to secure in the recent past. Nashua's involvement with Northerns is significant in that they also sponsored the electronic scoreboard which is considered to be feature at SuperSport Park. © Northerns Titans
