ADELAIDE - An Aboriginal youth cricket team will tour England later this year to re-enact the 1868 indigenous tour.
The Aboriginal side will be coached by former Australian spinner Ashley Mallett and will play an English youth side at Lord's and The Oval in London during the three week tour in August.
"The Australian Cricket Board has indicated that they want this to happen," Mallett said today.
"They want Aboriginal cricket to get a boost and not by just giving lip service, they really want it to happen.
"They have put structures into place so that Aboriginal cricketers have got not a better go than other cricketers, but an equal chance."
The tour follows a successful one-day match between a Prime Minister's XI and an ATSIC XI in Canberra in April this year, which was won by the ATSIC team.
