Greg Blewett
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 20, 2001
Wisden overview Swivelling to hook one moment, driving on the rise through cover the next, Greg Blewett began his Test career gloriously with centuries against England in his first two Tests in 1994-95. He also made a century in his first Test in England, and a double-century in Johannesburg, and 99 twice in a calendar year, but inconsistency, a vexation against spin and fierce competition at the top of the order meant that he never settled in the Australian team. Before he became a Test player, he declared that while the contest for places was so hot, mere hundreds in the Sheffield Shield would not count, and he is again playing with that relentlessness. His sometimes devastating slow-medium bowling makes him a formidable allround cricketer still. Greg Baum
