Sri Lanka v India 1993-94 Wisden CricInfo staff - June 25, 2001
At Khetterama Stadium, Columbo, July 25. India won by one run. Toss: Sri Lanka. India squeezed home with a run to sare, bowling Sri Lanka out with the second ball of the final over. The home team seemed to have taken control of the game after breaking an opening partnership of 77 between Sidhu and Prabhakar. But Azharuddin kept the innings together, with 53 in 57 balls, despite losing partners at regular intervals. Sri Lanka were still in the driver's seat as Aravinda de Silva and Hathurusinghe added 115 for the third wicket. They reached the final over needing five, though a flurry of wickets meant they were down to their last pair. Kalpage hit the first ball to mid-wicket and ran three, leaving Wickremasinghe on strike. A swinging yorker from Prabhakar bowled him. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
