Andrew Penn
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 26, 2001
Wisden overview The burly, country-reared Penn was not born under a lucky bowling star. An aggressive right-arm medium-fast bowler and big-hitting batsman, Penn moved from Central Districts to the big-city advantages of Wellington, gained a fleeting foothold in the New Zealand one-day side, but then wasovertaken by the flood of younger seaming candidates. After missing the tour of South Africa through injury, Penn was summoned as a replacement, but re-injured himself just before departure. He regained a one-day place against Sri Lanka, but froze with an opening over of wides, no-balls and, eventually 19 runs, which included 13 extras. Penn was not required for the rest of the season, and seems to have disappeared from the national reckoning. Don Cameron
