Daniel Vettori
Wisden CricInfo staff - June 26, 2001
Wisden overview A left-arm spinner of rare ability, and the youngest New Zealand cricketer at 18, Vettori reached 100 Test wickets before contracting a back complaint which baffled the experts. The growing process was part of the problem, and having stabilised at 6ft 3ins, he altered his action and is returned a fitter, more effective bowler. He even took successive five-fors in Australia in 2001-02, at which point he was probably the best left-arm spinner in the world. There is promise, too, in Vettori's lower-order batting, which relies on a good eye and a clear mind. Don Cameron
