Ata-ur-Rehman, Ijaz Junior suspended 1 March 2001
Former Test cricketers Ata-ur-Rehman and Ijaz Ahmed Junior were suspended by their Allied Bank team management for creating commotion during lunch interval of the Patron's Trophy match at Pindi Stadium on Wednesday. The two senior players were arguing over some matterwhich later turned into a brawl. After both of them were given marching orders, coach Raj Hans was forced to take the field since ABL were short of players. Ata is very fortunate to be playing in the domestic cricket after being slapped with a life ban by Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum who investigated the charges of corruption in Pakistan cricket. © Dawn
