Rain continues to plague Logan Cup Joe Ruzvidzo - 2 March 2001
The deluge that has swept over Zimbabwe for the last few weeks has taken it's toll again, suspending play in all but one Logan Cup match, that between Mashonaland and Mashonaland 'A'. Bulawayo Athletic Club, host to the Matabeleland v Manicaland game, is virtually swamped, leaving the officialls no option but to forget cricket for the day and hope for play tommorw. Manicaland, who hosted the Midlands in the first round of this year's competition, seemed to be dogged by bad luck whether home or away. For now, the weather in Bulawayo seems to be clearing up slightly, so with a good day today, play will hopefully start on time tomorrow morning. Midlands seem to be having the same bad spell, with their match against visitors CFX Academy put off till the morning. There has been some speculation over whether both teams should get on the road to Harare, where a respite has allowed play to go on. So far, the underdogs (Midlands and Manicaland) look to be having a tough time, with neither team having posted a result, let alone put on their whites and gone out to play the game. All that's left is to hope the rain subsides, so as not to let the Mashonaland sides run away with the competition. © Cricinfo
