PERTH - South Australia needed 223 runs for victory with eight wickets in hand at lunch on the final day of the Pura Cup clash at the WACA.

The Redbacks were 2-156 and poised to snatch an improbable victory after their first innings ended in the 16th over yesterday, still 69 runs short of the follow on mark.

But a sporting declaration from Warriors captain Tom Moody, who called an end to the home side's second innings at 6-160 late on the third day, set the visitors 379 runs to win.

First innings centurymaker Greg Blewett (138) moved past 1000 runs for the Pura Cup season and in the process put his side within 230 runs of victory before he was caught and bowled by paceman Matthew Nicholson for 77 to take the score to 2-148.

That brought captain Darren Lehmann to the crease (5no) and he added eight runs with Shane Deitz (54no) before lunch was called.

The Redbacks resumed this morning at 1-61, facing a final day run chase of 318 after a blazing start yesterday through first gamer Luke Williams who reached the fence four times before he was caught behind off Brad Williams (1-7) to make the score 1-19.

Blewett then made 28 in a 43-run partnership with left hander Shane Deitz (13no) before stumps were drawn.
