Shane Lee replaces Gillespie for ODI series

Australian all-rounder Shane Lee will replace paceman Jason Gillespie in the Australian team to play in the five ODIs against India. He will join the team before the second game at Pune on March 28. A media release on Saturday said the New South Wales captain will travel to India to replace quick bowler Jason Gillespie in the Australian one-day squad.

An Australian Cricket Board spokesman confirmed that Michael Kasprowicz will also fly home along with Colin Miller, Michael Slater and Justin Langer. Gillespie, who was to originally named in the squad was asked to return to 'save' himself for the coming Ashes series against England. His other team mates who have already joined the team are Andrew Symonds, Michael Bevan, Nathan Bracken, Ian Harvey and Darren Lehmann.

Hirwani, Yadav manhandle journalist during Ranji game

Discarded Test leg spinner Narendra Hirwani, who is representing Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Orissa at Gwalior, along with Jai P Yadav, were pulled up for their behavior during the post-lunch session on the third day of the match on Saturday after they manhandled a journalist in the press box.

Timely intervention by the MP captain Chandrakant Pandit and the Gwalior District Cricket Association deffused the situation. The journalists wanted to boycott the coverage of the game but decided against it following Pandit's apology.

The incident took place after Hirwani came to field near the press box at the end of an over in which he was hit for a six and a four. The journalist asked him jokingly whether the ball was turning. This enraged the leg spinner. Yadav joined Hirwani and the two manhandled him, besides showering abuses at him.

Indore all set to host third one day international

Preparations are being conducted on a war footing for the successful organisation of the third one-day international cricket match between India and Australia to be held in Indore on March 31 after a gap of four years.

Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) secretary, Sanjay Jagdale told reporters on Sunday that the association is fully prepared tohost the match. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board ofControl for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials have describedthe pitch at the Nehru stadium as the `best' for the match, hesaid.

It may be recalled that a ban was imposed on matches tobe played at Indore following an abandoned match between Indiaand Sri Lanka on December 25, 1997. The ban was recently lifted when ICC member Ranjan Mudgale gave a positive report in favour of the ground and pitch after the match between Zimbabwe and the National Cricket Academy in November last year.
