Responsible Bazid propels PWD 30 March 2001
A sparkling century by Bazid Khan helped PWD gain a vital 33-run first innings lead over Sui Gas in the Patron's Trophy Grade-II final at the LCCA Ground on Thursday. Replying to 287 made by Sui Gas, PWD reached 318 for nine in their stipulated 90 overs having resumed at two for one. Bazid, son of former Pakistan captain Majid Khan, slammed 121 off 186 balls in stay of just over four hours. His knock was spiced with seven fours and one six. Opener Shahzad Malik hit 60 with six boundaries and put on 81 for the third wicket with Bazid. Skipper Saad Wasim also batted responsibly while sharing a rapid sixth wicket stand worth 95 in 96 minutes with Bazid. Saad contributed 59 which included two hits to the fence. Off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez claimed four for 36. © Dawn
