West Indies make three changes for fifth one-day international CricInfo - 8 May 2001
The West Indies have announced three changes to their squad for the fifth one-day international against South Africa.
Corey Collymore comes in for Nixon McLean, while Daren Ganga and Dinanath Ramnarine replace Leon Garrick and Wavell Hinds. Ganga's recall is something of a surprise. He averages just six in his seven-match one-day international career, and just 17 in List A cricket. Collymore has not played a one-day international since featuring in the NatWest Series involving England and Zimbabwe last year, and Ramnarine has only played two one-day internationals before. The West Indies need to win all three remaining games to take the series, with South Africa currently holding a 3-1 lead. West Indies captain, Carl Hooper, admitted that it would be "tough" trying to overturn the South African lead, but issued a positive rallying call for his team. "It's not beyond us," he said. "We've got to remain optimistic and hopefully we can turn things around in Barbados. Even though it is tough on us we've got to win three games." The three remaining games are to be played on the 9th (Barbados), 12th (Trinidad and Tobago) and 16th (St Vincent). Squad in full: Carl Hooper (capt), Chris Gayle, Daren Ganga, Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell, Ridley Jacobs, Neil McGarrell, Mervyn Dillon, Corey Collymore, Cameron Cuffy, Dinanath Ramnarine, Kerry Jeremy, Marlon Samuels.
