Weather permitting, Sunday`s National League game between Lancashire and Glamorgan at Old Trafford will see Matthew Maynard break Eifion Jones` record for the most number of appearances by a Glamorgan player in Sunday League format cricket.
The game will be Matt`s 213th appearance in the competition. He made his debut in 1985, against Yorkshire at Swansea - the day before his remarkable debut in first-class cricket which saw Matt make a century in his first ever Championship innings, reaching his hundred with three consecutive sixes off the bowling of the late Phil Carrick.
Matthew`s first appearance in the Sunday League was not so dramatic, as he scored 8 before being caught by Peter Hartley off the bowling of Chris Shaw. Since then however, Matthew has been Glamorgan`s most successful batsman ever in the competition, scoring a club record of 5944 runs.
Matthew still has a long way to go to overtake another long-serving player currently in action - Kim Barnett of Derbyshire and now Gloucestershire, who has played in no less than 307 Sunday League or National League fixtures.
The table below shows the other Glamorgan players to have appeared in over 150 matches in Sunday League/National League matches:
