Ormond - offer from Somerset Photo CricInfo

Somerset have confirmed their interest in the unsettled Leicestershire bowler James Ormond.

Chief Executive Peter Anderson said: "I can confirm that we have made an offer to Jimmy Ormond. He is also in talks with other counties, and we don't want to get involved in an auction situation. He knows what our offer is, and we are waiting for him to make a decision."

Anderson has always made it clear that if good players became available, Somerset are interested in strengthening their squad.

Coach Kevin Shine said: "Being a forward-looking county we are always interested when a bowler of Ormond's quality comes on the market. He would be a fine complement to Johnno and Steffan, especially as it is likely that we won't see much of Andy Caddick next season."

Shine added: "It is possible that Johnno or Ormond may be joining Andy playing for England, in which case we would have cover."
