Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh tie well poised Staff Reporter - 13 November 2001
Rajasthan gained a significant first-innings lead in their Ranji Trophy league match against Madhya Pradesh at the KL Saini Ground in Jaipur on Monday. Resuming at their overnight score of 200/6, Gagan Khoda and Rohit Jhalani ensured that their team went past Madhya Pradesh's first- innings score. Khoda finally fell with the score on 236, having made 65 off 114 balls. Jhalani fell 10 runs later; he scored 47. Small knocks from the tail took Rajasthan's total to 270, a lead of 57. Although Madhya Pradesh's first wicket fell with the score on 13, fifties from Amay Khurasiya and Chandra Prakash Sahu comprised a second-wicket partnership of 89 runs. Sahu made 51 off 95 balls and was the first to go. His partner followed 51 runs later, having made an uncharacteristically patient 64. At the close of play on Day Three, Madhya Pradesh were 180/3. Having a lead of only 123 at present, they will have to set a sizeable target for Rajasthan if they are to win this match. © CricInfo
