India hot favourites for England Test Series 23 November 2001
Ladbrokes have today released odds on the keenly-awaited Test series between India and England, which begins at Mohali on December 3rd. India are strongly fancied to win the series – short odds of 2/9 – and England are perceived as rank outsiders at 8/1. A drawn series is priced at 4/1. Ladbrokes Matt Finnigan said "With all the controversy in the run up to this series, interest is extremely high. India, with home advantage, are firm favourites, and England, in spite of their recent record in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, are priced as rank outsiders." England series victories offer some generous prices for those fans wishing to back the tourists. A 3-0 England whitewash is 100/1, while repeats of the Pakistan or Sri Lanka series results, 1-0 or 2-1 to England, are both priced at 25-1. Sachin Tendulkar unsurprisingly stands at the top of the Top Series Run-scorer odds. He is priced at 3/1, with Indian team-mates Dravid (6/1), Das, Ganguly and Laxman all at 7/1. Marcus Trescothick and Graham Thorpe are England's leading batsmen in the Top Series Run-scorer stakes, according to Ladbrokes, alongside the Indians at 7/1. For those looking for longer odds, England captain Nasser Hussain is 10/1 and Butcher and Ramprakash both 12/1. Check the Ladbrokes site for updated odds, as prices are subject to change. © CricInfo Ltd |
