Zimbabwe v New Zealand, 2000-01 Wisden CricInfo staff - October 9, 2001
Toss: New Zealand.
Campbell's unbeaten 99 guided Zimbabwe to their first one-day series success against a Test side since early 1997. He and Marillier had 97 on the board inside 20 overs; by the time O'Connor ripped out the Flowers with consecutive deliveries, Zimbabwe required 39 off 37 balls. Whittall's 28 off 14 made that a formality with two overs in hand – though his big hitting meant Campbell went without a hundred for the second day running. Twose, whose four sixes included three in succession balls off Viljoen, and McMillan were again the engine-room of New Zealand's batting, putting on 92 in 14 overs. McMillan and Parore then added 68 in 13, but Zimbabwe's fielders – Twose and Parore went to spectacular diving catches – backed up their bowlers brilliantly in near-perfect one-day batting conditions.
