Rudolph in the runs again Wisden CricInfo staff - October 10, 2001
LAUDIUM, South Africa (Reuters) South Africa A scored 274 for 4 from their 50 overs, then bundled Kenya out for 126 in 33.3 overs. Pace pair Charl Langeveldt, who captured 5 for 25, and Justin Kemp, with 5 for 35, did the damage. Rudolph, 20, took advantage of a tame Kenyan attack to make his runs from 158 balls, including 13 fours, after his side were put in to bat. Rudolph's innings sustained a rich vein of form -- he scored 109 for Nicky Oppenheimer's XI against the Indians in a one-day tour match earlier this month. Rudolph and Martin van Jaarsveld, who struck 67 in 72 balls, combined for a second-wicket partnership of 130 off 154 deliveries in perfect batting conditions. Rudolph and Kemp then smashed 78 off 66 balls for the third wicket. Kemp contributed 40 in 32 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Kenya's batsmen were soon struggling. Their first two wickets went down for 12, and it was left to Steve Tikolo to provide the only innings of substance -- 59 off 79 balls, including 10 fours. Tikolo was eventually caught at cover by Justin Ontong off Langeveldt, as the last seven Kenyan wickets tumbled for 39.
