No surprises in West Indies tour party
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 14, 2001

Although the political unrest in the region will decide whether their tour to Sri Lanka takes place, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have named their 16-man squad for the series. The WICB confirmed that Carl Hooper had been reappointed as captain -- hardly a surprise given the absence of any viable alternative -- and the squad itself was equally unsurprising. The 16 players, plus reserve wicketkeeper Courtney Browne, will assemble in Jamaica ahead of the tour for a training camp. Browne's presence was requested as there remain doubts about first-choice Ridley Jacobs's long-standing finger injury, although the WICB will probably wait until the last minute before deciding which one of them tours. The final decision about the Sri Lankan trip, and the subsequent one to Pakistan, will be made after this week's International Cricket Conference meeting in Kuala Lumpur. West Indies squad Marlon Black, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Pedro Collins, Mervyn Dillon, Daren Ganga, Leon Garrick, Chris Gayle, Carl Hooper (capt), Ridley Jacobs, Reon King, Brian Lara, Neil McGarrell, Dinanath Ramnarine, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Colin Stuart.
