Fifth-wicket record for Kenya
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 15, 2001
Maurice Odumbe and Thomas Odoyo added 106 for the fifth wicket, a Kenyan one-day record. Their previous-best was 84, by Alpesh Vadher and Maurice Odumbe against Zimbabwe at Taunton in the 1999 World Cup.
Kenya's 229 for 7 was their highest total against South Africa, beating their previous-best of 196, made at Nairobi in 1999-2000. This was the fifth one-dayer between the sides.
Ravindu Shah, Maurice Odumbe and Thomas Odoyo all made half-centuries, only the second instance of three Kenyan batsmen doing so in their 40 ODIs. Shah, Odumbe and Hitesh Modi all made fifties against India at Gwalior in 1997-98.
