Wisden CricInfo staff - October 1, 2001

HARARE (Reuters)
England have won the toss and elected to bat for a warm-up game against Zimbabwe A as they start their six match tour. Four new caps will appear for England in the limited 50 overs match at the Alexandra Sports Club in Harare.

Gloucestershire offspinner Jeremy Snape, Essex wicketkeeper James Foster, Sussex right-arm fast-medium bowler James Kirtley and Yorkshire seamer Matthew Hoggard will all make their first one-day starts for England today.

Hoggard has played two Test matches but has never featured in a limited overs international.

The match is England's only chance to prepare ahead of the first of five one-day internationals against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club starting on Wednesday.

Nasser Hussain will lead the team, which includes Graham Thorpe as a late replacement for the injured Craig White.
