Foster, Flower and Hussain reprimanded Wisden CricInfo staff - October 8, 2001
England captain Nasser Hussain, Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Andy Flower and England keeper James Foster have received severe reprimands from International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee Colonel Naushad Ali. All three were summoned to appear before Ali following a series of exchanges during the third one-day international between England and Zimbabwe on Sunday and were charged with violating the ICC's code of conduct. Foster was given a warning about his future conduct after two altercations with Flower, who twice received the benefit of the doubt after appearing to be caught behind. Flower was handed an identical sentence after reacting to Foster's aggressive challenge. Hussain was also severely reprimanded and warned about his future conduct. He appeared to remonstrate with Flower after the first contentious decision, although he was off the field when the pair resumed hostilities. Ali stated that Hussain was in breach of the regulations which demanded that captains be responsible for "ensuring that play is conducted in the spirit of the game" .
