John Scholes resignation
Victorian Cricket Association - 1 October 2001
It is with much regret that the Victorian Cricket Association has accepted the resignation of the Victorian Bushrangers Coach John Scholes due to personal reasons.
In announcing Scholes' resignation, VCA Chief Executive Officer Ken Jacobs paid tribute. "John has been State Coach for the past five seasons in which time he has created an outstanding environment amongst the Bushrangers squad, promoting the values of teamwork, loyalty, respect and commitment".
During his time as State Coach, John Scholes has been involved in leading the Bushrangers to victory in the 1998/99 Mercantile Mutual Cup and to the final of the Pura Cup during the last two seasons, clearly demonstrating his ability as an elite cricket coach.
As a player, selector and coach, John Scholes has given over 30 years service to Victorian cricket and it is hoped that he will maintain an involvement at some level in the future.
The VCA Board will discuss a replacement for John Scholes at the scheduled monthly Board meeting this evening and will advise of a decision in due course.
