WP Trott to another victory Sports Staff - 28 October 2001
Nashua WP scored a fine eight wicket victory over a luckless Griqua Diamonds side at Newlands on Sunday evening. Rain played a major role in the final days play as only 30 minutes of play was possible before 15H45 CAT. In the 30 minutes play WP failed to remove the the last wicket pair of Kruis and Tatton. In all WP needed 14 overs to remove the last wicket pair with Paul Adams making the breakthrough when he bowled Kruis for 36. This left WP to score 137 in 22 overs. Puttick was soon out but Graeme Smith and Jonathan Trott added 97 in 15 overs before Smith was dismissed for 38. This brought Neil Johnson to the wicket. Together with Trott the pair added 42 in four overs with Johnson contributing 24 runs in 14 balls including two huge sixes. Trotts knock of 73 not out earned him the Man of the Match award. WP achieved their target with less than two overs to spare. © Cricinfo
