Zimbabwe have reacted to their comprehensive defeat in the first Test by naming a squad of 16 players for the second and final Test which starts in Bulawayo on Friday. Batsmen Stuart Carlisle and Gavin Rennie, fast bowler Henry Olonga, spinner Paul Strang and wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu have been added to the side which played in Harare.

The hero of that match, Andy Flower, is believed to be struggling to recover from a thumb injury. Given his importance to the side it is inconceivable that he would not play, but he could be relieved of his wicketkeeping duties with the gloves passing to Taibu.

If Rennie comes in, it could be at the expense of the out-of-form opener Alistair Campbell - although the selectors have shown faith in his through bad times in the past and he is the only man to have played in every one of Zimbabwe's Tests.

The lack of penetration in the bowling which allowed South Africa to run up 600 for 3 has been addressed by the inclusion of Stang and Olonga. Strang may play as a second spinner, given that the Bulawayo pitch usually favours slow bowlers.
