Ken MacLeay named Life Member of WACA

Last night at the Annual General Meeting of WACA Members, former WA all-rounder Ken MacLeay was bestowed with one of WA Cricket's highest honours when he was named a life member of the Western Australian Cricket Association.
An outstanding player over a decade, between 1981 and 1991, Ken MacLeay played 100 first class games and 37 limited over games for WA.
During his career, MacLeay scored three centuries in his 2870 first class runs, at an average of 27.33 from 130 innings. His highest score of 114 not out, was made against New South Wales at the WACA Ground in 1986/87.
MacLeay's bowling in first class cricket netted him 261 wickets at an average of 29.41, including five wickets in an innings on six occasions. His best bowling return was also against New South Wales at the WACA Ground, when he took 6/93 during the1986-86 season. MacLeay also claimed 63 catches.
In limited overs cricket for WA, MacLeay scored 335 runs at an average of 17.63 and took 53 wickets at an average of 21.98 - with best figures of 5-30.
MacLeay was a regular member of Australia's limited overs campaigns during the early to mid eighties - the highlight of which was being selected in the Australian Squad that toured England for the 1983 World Cup. During that tour he returned the outstanding figures of 6-39. In total he represented Australia in 16 limited overs games.
Also at the WACA Annual General Meeting last night, Benita Marsh and Mr Rob O'Connor QC were elected onto the WACA's Executive Committee.
