Paul Pollard announces his retirement Worcestershire CCC Media Release - 7 August 2002
Paul Pollard has announced his retirement from First Class Cricket following a series of injuries which mean he will not be able to play again this season. Worcestershire County Cricket Club are happy to release Paul from his contract for the remainder of the season so that he can prepare for a career outside cricket. During his career Paul has scored 9685 runs in 1st Class Cricket at an average of 31.44 with both Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire. In One Day Cricket Paul has scored 5017 runs at an average of 33.2. Paul made his debut for Nottinghamshire in 1987 and commenced his career with Worcestershire in 1999. Pollard says, "The body is telling me this is the time to retire. I have had an immensely enjoyable career in Cricket but it is time to move over and let the younger brigade have their opportunity. I still want to play Minor County and Senior Club Cricket as well as take on new challenges in my life. I'd like to thank all the Members and Supporters at both Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire for their encouragement and friendship over the years." © Worcestershire CCC
