Hampshire and Kent meet in Second XI Trophy Final Media Release - 19 August 2002
Hampshire CCC and Kent CCC will meet in this year's Second XI Trophy Final at The Rose Bowl, West End, on Monday 9 September (Reserve Day, Tuesday 10 September). Hampshire CCC will be looking to win the one-day competition for the first time in its history with its fourth appearance in the final - its third in the last four years. Kent, meanwhile, has won the 50 over competition - open to the 18 First Class Counties plus a Minor Counties Xl and MCC Young Cricketers - once before, defeating Hampshire in 1999. In the semi-final, Hampshire beat Yorkshire by 60 runs. Lawrence Prittipaul top scored with 61 in Hampshire's total of 278-5 in 50 overs, while James Tomlinson took 3-35 as the south coast side bowled out Yorkshire for 218. Kent, meanwhile, beat Middlesex by four wickets. Having bowled out Middlesex for 137, James Hewitt steered Kent to victory with 44 not out.
