'Now is the time to concentrate on Division One status and retaining the C and G' says Somerset boss
SOMERSET - 21 August 2002

Whilst his Somerset team were out in the middle at the County Ground batting their way to five bonus points against Warwickshire, chief executive Peter Anderson looked forward to the rest of the season.

He told me earlier: "With the NUL campaign now out of the way, in so far that Somerset accept that they will be relegated, now is the time for the players to concentrate on their Division One status and the retention of the C and G Trophy at Lord's in ten days time.

"As everyone knows to play cricket you need confidence and unfortunately this has been lacking in our side.

"All sorts of things can go wrong in cricket - catches dropped, needless run outs, rain when you don't want it, and when you do it doesn't, and marginal decisions go against you - all of these things affect your confidence.

"What we have to do now is have faith in our coaching methods and preparation and try individually and collectively to find some consistent form with both bat and ball."
