Massil leads Lod to win over Be'er Sheva
ISRAEL - 24 August 2002

In senior league action, Lions Lod maintained their unbeaten record with a narrow 5-wicket win, achieved with a handfull of balls to spare, over Be'er Sheva A in Be'er Sheva. The match produced some excellent cricket, and despite the best efforts of the home side, Isaac Massil, fresh from an excellent performance for Israel at the recent European Championships, was his brilliant best in scoring 65* to steer Lod to victory. Yefet Nagavkar also contributed a good half century, as Lod passed the useful Be'er Sheva target of 235 with 9 balls and 5 wickets in hand.

Earlier Be'er Sheva were boosted by 56 from Michael Malekar, 46 from opener George Sheader and 42 from Oren Penkar in reaching what they would have considered a defendable total. 15 - year old Oren Chinculker became the latest youth development player to make his debut in the senior league, scoring just 8 but impressing all with his obvious talent.
