Day 3 report: QEA Trophy 2002-03
Pakistan Cricket Board - 23 December 2002

LAHORE: Kashif Raza and Waqas Ahmad equally shared eight wickets between them to steer Wapda to an interesting 10-run victory over Service Industries with a day to spare in the four-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at the Gymkhana Ground in Okara. Service Industries, starting the third day's play at 30 for two and chasing 204 for victory, were bowled out for 193 with Kashif claiming four for 48 and Waqas scooping up four for 58. Wapda began the 24-team competition by bagging a maximum of 12 points from the opening game.

At the Gaddafi Stadium, Mohammad Saleem Mughal was undefeated on 137 in Sheikhupura's 397 in response to Lahore Whites' 353. Saleem has struck 16 boundaries in his fluent innings and has so far added 183 for the seventh wicket with Mohammad Islam who was batting on 69.

At the LCCA ground, Asif Hussain hit 121 in Faisalabad's 352. Asif, who batted for 487 minutes and faced 343 balls, had started the day at 74. Lahore Blues, who posted 195 in their first innings, were 28 for no loss when stumps were drawn for the day.

Multan were facing defeat in their backyard against Allied Bank when they finished at 184 for seven. The home team still requires 100 runs to make the bankers bat again.

Only 24.1 overs were possible at Sports Stadium in Sargodha where National Bank progressed to 89 for four after starting the day at 36 for two. National Bank surrendered a 47-run first innings lead to Sargodha despite Mushtaq Ahmad's five for 54.

Karachi Blues' pacemen Imranullah captured four for 48 and Sharif Asadullah bagged three for 60 to give their team an outside victory chance against Peshawar at the Arbab Niaz Stadium. Peshawar, who earned a 128-run first innings lead, were skittled out for 125. The visitors, chasing 252 for victory, were seven for one at stumps.

A thunderstorm in Karachi curtailed play at the National Stadium and the UBL Sports Complex. Only 19 were bowled at the UBL Sports Complex while 18 overs were bowled at the National Stadium.
