QEA Trophy Second Round Day-3 Report

Off-spinner Arshad Khan bagged a match haul of 15 wickets as Allied Bank Limited (ABL) crushed Bahawalpur by 10 wickets with more than a day to spare in the QEA Trophy second round match at Bahawalpur Stadium, Bahawalpur, on Sunday.
Arshad, who picked up seven for 25 in the first innings, followed up with eight for 86 in the second as the home team were dismissed for 257 after resuming this morning at 110 for four while requiring 243 to make the bankers bat again. Arshad had match match figures of 52.5-15-111-15. For Bahawalpur, only No 6 batsman Kamran Hussain offered any resistance of note while scoring a 127-ball 54.

Multan also made short work of Dadu when they won their game by a thumping an innings and 11 runs. Dadu had began the day at zero for no loss and were dismissed for 164 with Shahid Qambrani scoring a 115-ball 50 with three boundaries. Paceman Farhan Abbasi caused the maximum damage while snapping up four for 36.

PIA also picked up maximum points when they thrashed Peshawar by an innings and 167 runs - thanks to five for 73 by local boy Umer Gul that shot out the hosts for 163. PIA started the second day at 359 for six in reply to home team's 144 and were bowled out for 474.
Mahmood Hamid, overnight 78 not out, was dismissed after scoring a well played 108 that contained 18 boundaries from 171 deliveries he faced during 218 minutes of batting.

Habib Bank had the better of Sheikhupura when they won their game by 90 runs. Pacemen Shahid Nazir and Sajid Shah equally shared eight wickets between them as the home team was dismissed for 167 while chasing 257 for victory.

Elsewhere, Wapda were sensing victory over Lahore Blues when they left the latter reeling at 25 for five after setting them a target of 348. In Wapda's second innings, opener Atiq-ur-Rehman missed a well deserved century when he was dismissed for 99.

Saeed Anwar inspired National Bank were in some trouble against Faisalabad at the Iqbal Stadium when they finished the penultimate day's play at 80 for four while chasing 158 for victory. The home team started the day at 41 for two and were dismissed for 281 with left-arm pacer Zahid Saeed capturing six for 77.

KRL's Misbah-ul-Haq hit an unbeaten 101 with 13 boundaries and a six from 156 deliveries to put his team in commanding position against ADBP who, chasing 380 for victory, were 28 for no loss. Misbah added 134 for the fourth wicket with Intikhab Alam who chipped in with 83.

At the LCCA ground, Rizwan Aslam carried his bat for a mammoth 209 as Lahore Whites posted a colossal 439 in reply for Gujranwala's 179. Rizwan, who started the day at 165 in Lahore's 326 for five, clobbered 27 boundaries during his 540 minutes of stay at the crease during which he received 452 deliveries.
