Bangladesh drops former captains from World Cup squad AFP - 31 December 2002
DHAKA, Dec 31 AFP - Bangladesh opted for youth, dropping three former captains as it announced a 15-man squad for the cricket World Cup to be held in southern Africa from February 8 to March 23. Khaled Mashud was retained as captain while former skippers Aminul Islam, Akram Khan and Naimur Rahman were not picked in the squad announced by chief selector Aliul Islam today. Masrafe Bin Mortaza, a young and promising pacer, was recalled for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury on the New Zealand tour about a year ago.
