VB Series wet weather contingency
The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) announced today the following contingency plans for the VB Series finals in the advent of inclement weather.
In negotiating the tour program with both the New Zealand and South African boards over 12 months ago, the ACB concluded that no reserve days would be scheduled if a final is cancelled due to rain.
As such the following arrangements have been put in place:
NB: South Africa will be awarded $70,000 for finishing first on the VB Series points table after the preliminary rounds, while New Zealand will receive $40,000 for its second placing. Australia, which finished third, received $15,000.
The ACB and Cricket New South Wales have also agreed that if Sunday's third final is required, it will be a day match, and not a day-night fixture as previously advised.
Refund Policy
The ACB's refund policy stipulates that if Friday's match in Sydney is abandoned due to rain (25 overs or less), then patrons can exchange their tickets to those of the same value for Sunday's match or receive a monetary refund.
If Sunday's final is cancelled due to rain, patrons will be entitled to a monetary refund only.
Player-of-the-series
Carlton & United Breweries will award the player-of-the-series an LG Electronics home entertainment system valued at $20,000.
The player-of-the-series award will be voted by a panel comprising of ABC Radio's Geoff Lawson, Ian Smith of the Nine Network and Andrew Ramsey from The Australian newspaper.
The player-of-the-series will be announced at the conclusion of the VB Series finals.
