Leading Kent players to search schools for talent Media Release - 13 February 2002
Kent County Cricket Club today announced that it has embarked on an ambitious plan to find the next generation of Kent cricketers. The County Club's leading players will be visiting 82 primary schools over the next three weeks to encourage more young people to take an active interest in the game. The programme has been drawn up in conjunction with the Kent Cricket Board as part of an ongoing drive to make cricket fun and accessible for all ages and all abilities. The players taking part include newly-appointed County Championship Captain, David Fulton, wicket-keeper Paul Nixon, fast bowler Martin Saggers and batsman Matthew Walker. Commenting on this initiative, David Fulton said: "Kent has a tradition of producing its own cricketers and this plan is aimed at finding the Kent players of the future. It is a great initiative and we hope that all of the schools involved will benefit from the programme." © Kent CCC
