PCB meeting held to discuss ATC Final and other affairs Pakistan Cricket Board - 26 February 2002
Chairman PCB, Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, On Tuesday held a series of high level meetings at PCB headquarters, Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, to review the preparation of the forthcoming Asian Test Championship Final, and matters pertaining to domestic Cricket and programme of PCB Golden Jubilee celebrations. The arrangements for the ATC Final, to be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, from March 6-10, 2002, between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Were reviewed. PCB is organizing the Test Match, on behalf of ACC, and the ground handling including sale of tickets, security etc, have been assigned to LCCA. Chairman was briefed about various details ranging from ground arrangements, to media handling and other necessary preparations regarding the holding of the Test match. In another meeting Chairman discussed the details of Golden Jubilee celebrations of PCB, which fall this year and gave direction about its early launch sometime next month with a chain of events to culminate in a grand finale around October during the home series against Australia. A committee consisting of former PCB Officials, eminent Test Cricketers, and media reps is to be set up in this regard and the necessary plans for the series of events are to be submitted to the Chairman PCB within a short period for final approval.
Chairman PCB also reviewed the affairs of domestic cricket including the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, details of One-Day National Tournament and matters regarding the cricket academies and coaching centers. Discussion was also held on the scrutiny and election of associations with the concerned officials. Chairman PCB also held a meeting with the Chairman and members of National Selection Committee to discuss team for the ATC Final and future Tours. Names of 14 players for ATC already announced.
