Dawn Hasnain, Tanvir rout Sindh
9 January 2002

Pacemen Mohammad Hasnain and Tanvir Ahmed routed Rest of Sindh (RoS) for 131 to help Karachi Whites seize early initiative in the second round match of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-I at the National Stadium Monday.

Hasnain, a former Pakistan junior player, captured six wickets for 45 runs and Tanvir bagged four for 61 as RoS were dismissed in the second session's play after being put into bat by Moin Khan.

The home team had strengthened its grip by stumps when they reached 201 for four with Mohammad Farooq batting on 15 and Moin on 14.

Saeed bin Nasir top scored for Karachi Whites with an attractive 67 that included 12 boundaries. He put on 75 for the second wicket with Ghulam Ali (27) after Shahid Afridi had returned at the score of 15 after making 10 off eight balls.

Hasan Raza looked good and composed until he was declared leg before wicket when 39. His innings was spiced with seven boundaries.

Hasnain bowled to a teasing line and length on a seamer's friendly pitch. However, he made a better use of the semi- new ball which he swung and seamed effectively.

Tanvir was devastating with the new ball and got all his four wickets in the opening session's play. The lanky pacer, who took five wickets in the tournament opener, made full use of the fresh cherry by making the batsmen play and forcing the batsmen into commiting false strokes.
