Somerset County Cricket Club are trying to track down the twelve people who will receive the Queen's Golden Jubilee Cricket Awards.

Before Christmas the club announced that as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations they were going to commission twelve silver medals which will be presented during the Norwich Union League game against Yorkshire Phoenix at Taunton on May 12th.

Somerset cricket develoment officer Andrew Moulding, who is based at the Centre of Excellence at The County Ground, has recently written to all clubs in the county inviting them to nominate any likely candidate.

In his letter Mr Moulding says that the medals, which were the idea of Chief Executive Peter Anderson, "have been produced to honour those who have dedicated in excess of forty years of service to their local cricket clubs." Mr Moulding continues: "It is considered that this tribute should be paid to those who have demonstrated their loyalty by volunteering their services to just one club, however large or small the club may be.

"The award could be made to a player, coach, umpire, scorer, groundsman, club official, tea lady or any combination."

Any nomination for the Golden Jubilee Award should be sent on a completed form which is available from Mr Moulding (01823 352266) and should be returned to him at The County Ground not later than February 4th.
