Scotland scrapes home in rain-reduced match with Kenya
Lynn McConnell - 22 January 2002

Scotland picked up a victory when beating Kenya in their pool match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup match in a rain-affected match in Dunedin today.

Having held Kenya to 113/5 in 34.3 overs available before a rain interruption, a Duckworth/Lewis calculation left Scotland needing to score 124 runs in 25 overs to win the game.

Maurice Ouma played a key role for the Kenyan side finishing 36 not out off 56 balls while Rajesh Premji scored 27 off 47 balls in a sixth wicket stand of 62 that was shaping as crucial for the Africans.

Moneeb Iqbal picked up two for 16 with six overs of his leg spin bowling and Christopher West two for 23 for Scotland.

At 25/2 Scotland were in a spot of bother but Iqbal was in the limelight again with 40 runs off 60 balls while Steven Gilmour with 25 off 36 and Qasim Sheikh with 20 not out off 22 helped pull Scotland through to their required mark right on their allotted overs.
