Warriors' team for Hobart trip named Western Australian Cricket Association - 21 January 2002
The following players have been named by the WA Selectors to represent the Western Warriors in a Pura Cup game v the Tasmanian Tigers in Hobart, from Friday 25 January to Monday 28 January 2002.
Standby - Marcus NORTH
Marcus North is on standby to relace Brad Hogg, in the event that an appeal against Brad Hogg's suspension is unsuccessful. The WACA Appeals Board meet tomorrow, Tuesday 22 January, to hear an appeal lodged by Brad Hogg as a representative of the Willetton Cricket Club. Hogg is appealing against a decision made last Tuesday by the WACA's Pennant Cricket Committee, to impose a penalty of suspension. Hogg pleaded guilty to a charge of bringing the game into discredit following a charge laid during the BankWest Cup match between Willetton and Wanneroo on 13 January 2002. As a consequence, Hogg was suspended from Round Ten of the Sunsmart League (January 26 and February 2) and received a one match suspended sentence until the end of the 2002-03 season. As the suspension coincides with the upcoming Pura Cup match between the Western Warriors and Tasmanian Tigers (January 25 - 28), under Cricket Council Rules Hogg is automatically suspended for that match. © 2002 Western Australian Cricket Association
